A 19-year-old casual worker, Shuaibu Adamu, also known as “Yaya Mama,” has been arrested by the Gombe State Police Command for allegedly killing a fellow employee at the Government House.
The incident occurred on December 26, 2025, after a distress call was received reporting a male adult, Mallam Umar, popularly known as “Baba Usama,” found unresponsive on the premises.
The victim, a borehole operator attached to the Government House, was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Gombe, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
Preliminary findings showed that the deceased was assaulted by the suspect, who fled the scene but was later apprehended following a coordinated manhunt.
The suspect was arrested at his hideout in Bagadaza Quarters, Gombe, and confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation.
The Gombe State Police Command said it remained committed to ensuring justice was served and that all persons working within and around government facilities were adequately protected.

It said that the suspect would be diligently prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command said that further updates would be made public as investigations progressed.
