11-year-old Chibuike dies after alleged teacher’s flogging, Police probe “head blows” at Ogun School

He came home complaining of headache. By the next morning, he was gone.

Ezikwu Chibuike, 11, pupil of Assurance School on Olujemilusi Street, Ibafo, is dead.

His father says it started with a French teacher’s cane. Police are now asking: did discipline become deadly?

—“He was flogged on the head”—

The nightmare began June 18. Iheanyichukwu Nnadi, the boy’s father, told police his son returned from school clutching his head.

Allegedly flogged on the head by his French teacher, Chibuike was given paracetamol at home. But the pain didn’t leave.

By nightfall, fever set in. Then vomiting. By morning, his condition had collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Doctors reportedly confirmed him dead on arrival.

—Police: “No visible marks, but questions remain”—

The father reported the incident to Ogun State Police Command on June 19. Detectives moved fast. They visited the hospital, examined the body, took photographs.

Authorities say no visible signs of violence were found on the 11-year-old.

But the absence of marks doesn’t end the probe. Head trauma can kill without leaving a bruise.

The remains have been deposited at Real Define Morgue, Ibafo.

In grief, the father requested immediate burial. No autopsy. Police have since deposited the body, but say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.

“The command noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the pupil’s death,” a police statement read. “Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”

For now, Assurance School is silent. The French teacher’s name is withheld. And a classroom in Ibafo is mourning a pupil who left for lessons and never came home.
