An Abuja Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of online publisher, Omoyele Sowore, in Kuje prison pending Tuesday hearing on his application for bail.
Sowore, a former presidential candidate, along with four others, was arraigned Monday at the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja on a three-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others.
Accotding to Galaxy’s Godfrey Eshiemoghie, this came on the heels of their arrest by the police for leading a protest against bad governance on New Year’s Eve in Gudu area of Abuja.
In his chat with newsmen, Mr Sowore restated media reports that he and four others were detained at a facility of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit in the capital city where they were allegedly assaulted while in custody.
