
All roads in the country lead to Bichi, Kano on Friday as President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf, weds his fiancée, Zahra, daughter of Emir of Bichi, Nasir Ado-Bayero.
The wedding of the president’s only son from two marriages and the daughter of one of the nation’s richest businessmen and first class monarch will be a show stopper.
Yusuf 27, is the son of Muhammadu Buhari and Aisha Buhari and is indeed, an only son with sisters and step sisters from his father’s two marriages.
Yusuf, for his secondary education, studied in three countries: Kaduna International School, Nigeria; British School of Lome, Togo and Bellerby’s College, Brighton, United Kingdom. He went on to the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
He was in July turbaned as Talban Daura by the Emir of Daura.
His fiancée, 19-year-old Zarah is the daughter of the emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero who is himself also one of Nigeria’s richest men, being the chairman of 9mobile.
Zarah is also the granddaughter of the late emir of Kano and, Alhaji Ado Bayero and a niece of the incumbent emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.
She is a student of architecture in a university in the United Kingdom.
The wedding will serve as a background for the coronation of Alhaji Nasiru Ado-Bayero as the emir of Bichi which will hold on Saturday following the wedding.
The President is expected to attend the wedding on Friday and it is not known if he will also stay back for the coronation of his new brother-in-law. (GreenWhiteGreen)
