Alleging massive fraud in last Saturday’s Council Polls, thugs Monday took over the headquarters of Etsako East Local Government, Agenegbode and prevented the newly elected chairman, Ms Benedicta Attoh from assuming office.
There was pandemonium at the secretariat as the hoodlums who chanted war songs insisted that their candidate won the election and was rigged out in favour of Ms Attoh of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The thugs who chanted war songs, insisted that their candidate who, they said actually won the weekend election, instead of Ms Attoh, who was re-elected for a second term, should be immediately sworn in or else they will make the council ungovernable.
The newly sworn-in chairman who was stranded outside her office and tried on vain to calm her supporters down in a desperate effort at preventing blood bath as the thugs who are mostly youths, vowed to occupy the secretariat until their candidate is sworn in.
Members of the community however appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to immediately wade in to prevent the situation from degenerating.
