Three scavengers, identified as Kabiru Dauda, Ibrahim Sani, and Sulaiman Usman, have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a gold necklace from a motorist.

The police prosecutor, Chinenye Okafor, informed the court that the incident occurred on July 18 and was reported by the complainant, Ibrahim Yakubu, at the Utako Police Station.

According to Okafor, the three accused persons, along with another suspect currently at large, conspired to steal Yakubu’s gold necklace while he was sitting in his vehicle and making a phone call.

All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Presiding Magistrate Abubakar Sadiq granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with one surety in like sum.

The magistrate stipulated that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide valid identification, such as a voter card or national ID card.

They must also swear to a means of livelihood, and their addresses are to be verified by the court registrar.

The case was adjourned to September 2 for hearing.
