Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Nasarawa state, Mohammed Hussaini, has been killed by suspected bandits.
This was confirmed by the state Command of the Nigeria Police Force, in a statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel and made available to the press in Lafia, on Saturday.
The gunmen were said to have stormed Garaku market in Kokona Local Government Area of the State on Friday about 7:30pm.
The chairman was said to be in a meeting with the Toto LGA chairman of the association, Mohammed Umar, when he was hit by the gunmen.
The gunmen were said to have arrived in a white Hilux van with no number plate.
The State Chairman was reportedly shot several times on his head and chest, while the Toto LGA Chairman was shot while trying to run away.
According to the Police statement, “On 2/4/2021 at (about) 1930hrs, information was received that (unknown) gunmen suspected to be Fulani Bandits attacked and killed one Mohammed Hussaini, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Nasarawa State and Mohammed Umar, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Toto LGA at Garaku market.
“Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe psc(+) swiftly deployed Operation Puff Adder II personnel to (in) the scene where the two corpses were recovered and taken to the hospital; the corpses deposited at Anthony memorial Mortuary for post Mortem examination after being confirmed dead by a medical Doctor.”
CP Bola Longe condoled with the deceased families and assured them that the Command would do all within its power to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
Longe called on members of the public to volunteer useful information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits, as he assured them that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
