Supermarket employee pleads guilty to stealing goods, cash worth N593,750

A 24-year-old supermarket employee, Peter Ikyawuu, on Friday pleaded guilty to stealing goods and cash valued at N593, 750 from his employer.

Ikyawuu, who worked at Living Proof Supermarket, Akala, was charged with theft at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, remanded him in custody and adjourned the case until June 23 for review of facts and subsequent sentencing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between May 2 and June 15, at the supermarket.

Olarotimi said that the defendant stole goods worth N288,750 and a cash sum of N305,000 belonging to Living Proof Supermarket.

According to him, the total value of the items stolen was N593,750.

He said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
