The Bishop of Owo Anglican Diocese, Rt Revd Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi [FICT, FAT] has appointed Sir Dipo Okpeseyi SAN, OFR, as the new Chancellor of Owo Anglican Diocese.

Okpeseyi succeeds the late Chancellor of the Diocese and former Ondo State Governor, Arankunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The bishop said that Sir Dipo Okpeseyi SAN, OFR was a loyal and committed deputy to his predecessor.
He said Okpeseyi had been providing effective leadership to the members of the chancery in the days when the late Chancellor was busy with state affairs as governor.
The Bishop eulogized his passion, confidence, and competence in the discharge of his duties.
Okpeseyi is said to have also successfully hosted the Synod of Owo Diocese.
THE CONCLAVE reports that Okpeseyi’s personal support and assistance to his Bishop and the Anglican Communion are considered exceptional.
According to reports, he [Okpessyi] is embarking on a church project at Ago OGUNLEYE and has committed a princely N10 million to it already.
The Bishop also appointed a diocesan evangelist, the Revd. Moses Adeola, who’s to work closely with the Directorate of Mission and Evangelism of the Diocese.
Also, the preferment of Revd Omoleyinju and Revd Jeremiah Ozor as Canons in the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew Imola Owo on Friday, July 19, 2024, lit up the synod as delegates appreciated his lordship for his magnanimity and show of love to his priests.
The appointments of Okpeseyi as Chancellor, Adeola as Diocesan Evangelist, and Revd Omoleyinju and Revd Jeremiah as Canons were some of the highpoints of this year’s Synod.
The Synod was hosted by Prince Olatunbosun Aganun, a lawyer. He took the opportunity of his 50th birthday to host the synod.
A report by Ipele Media blog described the Owo Anglican Diocese Synod 2024 as epochal.
The synod is a yearly event for diocesan officials, bishop’s nominees, delegates from the cathedral, and all parishes of the Anglican Communion to come together and take a collective decision on how to move the diocese forward as well as to equip church leaders for the new year.
The Synod has been hosted by churches in the past, but in 2015, it took a different turn when Senator Bode Olajumoke changed the narrative of the Diocese as he single-handed hosted the 2015 Synod.
Subsequently, several individuals had taken that bold step of faith to make remarkable impact on the lives of the Diocese.
Prince Olatubosun Aganun, Esq., and his wife took their turn to host the 3rd session of the 14th Synod of the Owo Anglican Diocese this year at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Ipele, between the 18th day of July and the 21st day of July 2024.
The welcome service led by His Lordship, Rt Revd Dr Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi [FICT, FAT], the Lord Bishop of Owo Diocese, had in attendance bishops, different priests, and dignitaries from all walks of life.
The Rt. Revd Dr. Emmanuel Onsachi, Lord Bishop of Okenne Diocese, preached at the opening service with the topic “Walking in the Light of His Word: A Recipe for Spiritual Growth.”
The text was taken from the book of Psalm 119:105; 1 Pet. 2:2.
The welcome service featured the taking of the holy communion.
At the official opening on July 19, 2024, Prince Olatunbosun Aganun donated N10 million to the Owo Anglican Diocese, reinforcing the deveopment pace in the Synod.
Prince Olatunbosun Aganun, who was full of joy, returned all glory to the Almighty God for granting him the privilege to host the year synod and as well celebrate his 50th birthday in grand style, hosting friends, family, and delegates at the synod.
This was followed by a warm reception immediately after the official opening.
He appreciated friends and family who supported him both in cash and in kind for the success of the synod.
His church, St. Stephens Anglican Church, also supported him to host with N4 million donation to the diocese.
The official opening had in attendance royal fathers led by Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty Oba AJIBADE GBADEGESHIN OGUNOYE III, Olupenmen of Upenmen Oba Ebenezer Adewunmi Ogunmolasuyi II, Olukaro of Ikare Oba Joshua Asunbo Olupele Elect Oba Olusola Samuel Daramola, and Representative of Ojomo Luda of Ijebu-Owo Oba Kofoworola Oladoyinbo Ojomo Aruliwo III.
The synod held its thanksgiving service on Sunday, July 21, 2024, with the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami mni, in attendance.
The Deputy Governor charged Christians to continue to walk in the light of God for them to illuminate the world from the dark.
He congratulated the Bishop and host on a successful synod.
The preacher and son of the soil, The Ven Dr. Olumuyiwa Adeleke, a native of Ipele, and the Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Stephens, Oke-Aluko, Ondo, charged Christians to be up and doing and not to live in fear of challenges facing the nation.
He said that as Christians, we must not ascribe to ourselves bad motives but rather take advantage of Challenges facing the country.
The Thanksgiving service ended with a shocking preferment by his Lordship, Rt Revd Dr Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi, who announced Revd. Canon Seth Akinro as an archdeacon in the Diocese of Owo.
The church celebrated and thanked God for using his Lordship in the ministry of Revd Canon Seth Akinro, who is a diligent, cool, and calm Revd Father in God’s vineyard.
Akinro is said to have discharged his duty carefully, with a high sense of competence, and diligence.
He is said to be a compassionate man of God and with distinct Godly character.
Coincidentally, the next host is also a man of silk. Barrister Abiola Osho and his brothers will be hosting the 2025 Synod at St. John’s Church, Iyere.
The exchange of baton was done in the presence of OBA OMOTUNDE ALABA EBIYANMI ADAKO IRESIN II, OLIYERE OF IYERE KINGDOM, and their readiness is on high gear.
The 2024 Synod host, Prince Olatunbosun Aganun Esq. appreciated the love of his father and his encourager, Oba Victor Oluwasegun Aganun Iredokun I, for the impact he made in his life, and his political leader, the late Governor of Ondo State, Arankunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, whom he served under his administration as Senior Special Adviser on Community Development.
Appreciating all he did for him while alive, he prayed that their souls continue to find rest.
Prince Olatunbosun Aganun, Esq. was born into the humble family of Oba Victor Olusegun Aganun of Ilana Quarters, Ipele and Iyaafin Florence Banke Aganun nee Adekunle-Obanigba of Ijebu-Owo.
He had a brief stint at Imade College, Owo, for about a week before proceeding to St. Johns & Mary’s Unity Secondary School, Owo, for his secondary education between 1985 and 1991.
Thereafter, he traveled abroad and had a certificate of study in Public Administration and later returned to the country to study law as the pioneer law students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko between year 2000 and year 2006.
He did a postgraduate diploma in arbitration at the Chartered Institute.of Arbitrators, Nigeria, in 2013, and he later did an LLM at Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
Arakunrin Dr. Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, the former Governor of Ondo State appointed Olatunbosun Aganun, Esq., as a Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Community Development on May 13, 2020, and served meritoriously for about three years in that capacity.
He was later appointed as the pioneer Chairman of the Interim Committee of the recently dissolved Owo East Local Council Development Area of Ondo State on November 3rd, 2023, before the demise of the late Governor.
Prior to the above, Olatunbosun Aganun, Esq., was appointed as a member of the Panel of Inquiry into the crisis over the land dispute between Araromi Obu and Ikale (Ago Alaye) on August 2, 2019.
He served with distinction on the panel and his contributions greatly facilitated the restoration of peace in the crisis area in the Southern Senatorial District of Ondo State.
Olatunbosun Aganun was baptized by the Rev’d E.B. Dahunsi (later Bishop of Idoani Diocese), and his confirmation was done by the pioneer Bishop of Owo Diocese, the late Rt. Rev. Awosan at St. John Mary’s Unity Secondary Chapel in 1988.
He’s a member of the Lovers 0ⁿCircle Christian Society and PCC of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Ipele.
He was initially appointed the Assistant Registrar and later Deputy Registrar of the Diocese of Owo by the Lord Bishop of Owo Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev. Dr. Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi.
Olatunbosun Aganun is a member of Owo Recreation Club, Owo, and other numerous social clubs.
He belongs to some professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association, where he served as a member of The National Executive Committee, the highest decision-making body of the NBA at the national level and is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Christian Lawyers, International Bar Association and African Bar Association.
Olatunbosun Aganun, Esq., is a staunch member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Owo Branch, and he served the bar at the local level in different capacities such as Assistant Secretary, Secretary, Vice Chairman, and Chairman.
Under his chairmanship, a gigantic bar complex was donated to the NBA-Owo Branch by Arakunrin Dr. Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON in 2021, during the late Governor’s 65th birthday.
Olatunbosun Aganun has attended several national and international conferences in Nigeria, South Africa, and the United States of America.
The current Deputy Registrar of Owo Anglican Diocese is a community leader. He was installed as the Asiwaju of Ipele Kingdom in 2011 by the late Oba Abel Alade II.
He became a Prince of the Ipele Kingdom when Governor Akeredolu coronated his father, Oba Victor Olusegun Aganun, the Iredokun I as the pioneer 1st class Olupele of Ipele in August 2022.
Olatunbosun Aganun is the Chairman, Transition Committee of Owo East LCDA. He was appointed by his Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa recently.
Olatunbosun is happily married to his beautiful jewel of inestimable value, Oluwafunmilayo Omotayo Aganun, nee Balogun, and the union is blessed with God-fearing children.
