The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State chapter on Monday, March 10, 2025 gave Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, 48 hours ultimatum within which to tender his resignation from office or be ready to get impeached and removed from office by the State House of Assembly.
Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Tony Okocha, who gave the ultimatum while addressing journalists at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital, said that the embattled governor insulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he attempted to proffer a political solution to the crisis in the state.
Okocha said that the APC as a political party was giving Governor Fubara two options by either resigning honourably or would be impeached.
He said; “48 hours is too much to give him as an ultimatum. He should just resign honourably. That is the position of the All Progressives Congress. He has disrespected Mr. President and we told him that we cannot be here and have him to disrespect Mr. President.”
“The offences are there; the Supreme Court has agreed and even provided us with more evidence. The House of Assembly does not need to set up any committee again to investigate him,” he stated.
