Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Audu, has resigned from the position, with immediate effect.
In a letter dated June 8, 2025, and addressed to the President through the Chief of Staff in the State House in Abuja, Audu expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the administration’s public communication team.
Dr. Audu in theresignation letter expressed gratitude and a deep sense of duty for the opportunity to serve.
He described his service as an “honour” and acknowledged the role of Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, in facilitating his nomination despite their brief acquaintance.
“I especially wish to thank Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, whose confidence in me despite our brief acquaintance led to my nomination on the 26th of August, 2023,” he said in the letter.
Audu was officially appointed on October 9, 2023, and played a key role in the administration’s public affairs strategy, focusing on national communication efforts aimed at promoting the government’s policies and achievements.
In his resignation letter, he further sais: “It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration. Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem and continued prayers for the success of your leadership and the progress of our beloved nation.”
No official reason was stated for Audu’s resignation, and the presidency had, as of press time, yet to release a statement confirming the development or naming a replacement.
