In a significant operation on October 1, 2024, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested four notorious kidnappers and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer FCT Command SP Josephine Adeh said acting on credible intelligence, police operatives stormed the suspects’ hideout in Sauka, Abuja, where they apprehended Yau Sani (alias Baba), Nuhu (alias Giwa), Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan.
The group had been living among the general population while orchestrating a series of kidnappings.
She said the suspects, who confessed to multiple abductions across the FCT and its environs, admitted to killing seven victims during their criminal activities.
Their previous attacks targeted areas such as Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, Kuchiko Village, and several locations in Niger and Kaduna states.
Adeh said further investigations led police to another hideout in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where they recovered four AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, and 162 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspects also revealed plans to attack government institutions and residential estates in the FCT, which police successfully thwarted.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating crime in the region and urged the public to report suspicious activities to its emergency hotlines.
