Confirming the arrest, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said Danjuma Mohammed was arrested at Barkin-Saleh and he led the police to the principal suspects, Mohammed Yasin and Mohammed Usman.
Abiodun further stated that Mohammed Yasin during interrogation confessed to the crime and narrated that he perpetrated the act with Mohammed Usman and one Almajiri who is presently at large.
Abiodun said Almajiri was used to open a bank account with fake details where the ransom was paid and Danjuma acted as informant.
Abiodun said N230,000, two ATM cards, one MTN sim card, two identity cards, two AEDC utility bill, eight passport photographs, two postcard photographs, one military camouflage faze cap, one Tecno handset, two cutlass covers, one axe, one saw, one sword, four knives, one iron rod, three calabash and assorted charms were recovered from the suspects, while effort to arrest the other accomplice is ongoing.
Abiodun who said the command shall continue to do the needful in ensuring a secured environment, advised the general public, parents/guardians and school proprietors to always be vigilant and monitor their wards/students while in the school premises or at any other location.
He admonished landlords to be careful about admitting strangers into their homes to avoid being a victim of circumstances.
