“Personal assistant collaborated with kidnappers”: Police link insider to abduction of Adelabu’s sister

It was an inside job, police say.

The Oyo State Police Command has alleged that a personal assistant to a member of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu’s family worked with kidnappers to abduct the ex-minister’s sister and her 12-year-old twin sons.

–The abduction: June 3, Ring Road–

Victims: Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and twin sons Peter and Paul, age 12.

They were kidnapped on June 3 on Elewura area, Ring Road, Ibadan, while the mother was taking the boys to school.

Morning routine turned into nightmare.

Speaking on Channels TV’s “The Morning Brief”, Police PRO Olayinka Ayanlade said investigations traced collaboration to “a personal aide linked to a member of the family”.

The bottomline is that someone with access, trust, and the victims’ daily movement gave kidnappers the opening.

–Rescue operation: 2 kidnappers killed, others arrested–

The Nigeria Police Force mounted a coordinated rescue. The victims were freed.

During the operation, 2 suspected kidnappers were neutralised. Several others arrested.

Police say investigation is ongoing.

“Efforts being intensified to ensure all those connected to the abduction are brought to justice,” Ayanlade stated.
