The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated elder statesman, former minister of foreign affairs, former Chairman of ECOWAS Council of Ministers and member of the Board of Trustees of the party, Chief Tom Ikimi, as he attained the age of 77 years.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, the party celebrated Chief Tom Ikimi for his sacrificial roles towards the unity and political development of Nigeria.
“Chief Ikimi is a quintessential democrat, who believes in political inclusiveness, equality, fairness, national cohesiveness and true federalism.
“Our party recalls Chief Ikimi’s contributions as a member of the Constituent Assembly of 1988/98 as well as his role as Chairman of the panel for the National Convention Presidential Election Panel of 2003,” PDP said.
The party also appreciated Chief Ikimi’s commitment towards the ability and growth of the party, especially his roles in stimulating efforts towards the success of the party in elections at various levels.
The PDP celebrated Chief Ikimi at this auspicious occasion and prayed to God to grant him many more years in good health in the service of the fatherland and humanity in general.
