Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has described royal fathers in the state as custodians of culture and tradition, saying his government would continue to accord them due respect.
Governor Oyetola stated this during the presentation of Staff of Office and the Instrument of Appointment to his Royal Highness, Oba James Bolarinwa,Alayegun of Ode Omu in Ayedade Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasaki Adeosun, described the monarch as a link between the Government and the people.
“The role of traditional rulers in any community cannot be over emphasized and those roles are well recognized, they serve as symbols of peace and stability among the people,” he said.
“Traditional rulers advise politicians in power on the right course of action to take in bringing development to the door steps of the masses; their supports have strengthened our government to achieve most of our electoral promises and we promised not to betray their trust in us,” he stated.
Governor Adegboyega posited that the present administration had taken giant strides to improve on the infrastructure deficits of past administration, adding that the inauguration of projects across the state would continue as he promised during electioneering.
He, therefore, admonished the new monarch of the ancient town to work harmoniously with all other respected royal fathers in a bid to maintain and sustain the existing peace that can guarantee all-round developments in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman, Ayedade Local Government, Hon. Lateef Adeyeye, in his welcome address, appreciated the Governor for his laudable projects under construction across the state, using the medium to appeal to the people of the town to rally round the newly-crowned monarch and support him in order to allow peace to reign.
