Senator Rowland Owie, former Senate Chief Whip and highly respected elder statesman, has extended his congratulations to the newly-inaugurated Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, Honourable Denis Idahosa.
Owie said this landmark transition represented a fresh chapter of hope and dedication to the citizens of Edo.
He emphasized that with the elections now over, and political contestation laid to rest, it was time to focus on ethical leadership that transcended party lines.
He urged the new administration to “deliver on its campaign promises, and govern in a manner that benefits every Edolite, regardless of background or political affiliation.
“The people of Edo deserve a leadership rooted in integrity, dedication, and compassion,”
Senator Owie said that he believed “Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa embody these values.”
Reflecting on the responsibility and promise of leadership, Senator Owie highlighted the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the people, and fostering an atmosphere of peace, unity, and progress as some critical considerations that could not be overlooked.
“Governance is an immense responsibility and a noble calling. I trust that this administration will be marked by an unwavering dedication to the people’s welfare and the ethical principles that promote a harmonious and prosperous Edo State,” he remarked.
Entrusting Governor Okpebholo to the divine protection of the Almighty God, Senator Owie offered prayers for guidance under the mantle of the Most Blessed Mary, expressing hope that her intercession would provide the new administration wisdom and strength.
“May the Governor be granted the wisdom to govern like the biblical King Solomon—discerning and just, ever mindful of the trust the people have placed in him,” he said.
Joined by his wife, Lady Helen Owie, Senator Owie conveyed his warmest prayers and best wishes for Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa, envisioning an administration remembered for integrity, service, and transformation.
“We are confident that Governor Okpebholo’s tenure will be marked by genuine service, unity, and advancement for all,” Senator Owie said.
He prayed: “May his leadership bring about a brighter and more prosperous future for our beloved Edo State.”
