Owie condoles with Gov. Okowa over father’s death

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Roland Owie, KSJI, has expressed sadness over the death of Sir Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa, father of the Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

Owie stated that the demsie of the patriarch of the Okowa familly was a great loss to the people of Delta State.

According to him, “though every death is a painful loss, the death of a parent is most painful, given the fact that parents are advisors and caregivers rolled into one.”

The ex Senate Whip described Pa Okowa as a patriot who dedicated his life to the service of his native Owa-Alero and contributed immensely to the political development of not just his community, but the larger Delta State.

“As an educationist Pa Okowa’s life was defined by the values of hard work and commitment; he was a conscientious and dutiful teacher who was in all respects admirably equipped for his roles in the educating the younger generations and in the larger society,” Senator Owie added.

“Even in retirement, Pa Okowa continued to offer his services to his community in his capacity as Okpara-Uku of Owa-Alero,” he said.

He also stated that the death marked the sad loss of an experienced, committed and dedicated Nigerian, at a time when the country still needed his wisdom and knowledge and contributions as a statesman.

Senator Owie expressed his personal condolence and that of his family to Governor Okowa and the larger Okowa family and prayed that God would grant them comfort and consolation to bear this irreparable loss.
