Osun LGSC boss charges agric personnel to ignite subordinates for revolution

Agriculture personnel in the local government service of Osun State, who participated in the just concluded 3-day capacity building workshop, organised under the auspices of the State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), have been charged to regurgitate their take home from the workshop to feed their surbodinates in office so that they can be on the same page with them in their mission to revolutionize agriculture in their various local government areas.

Chairman, Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Elder Tunde Adedeji gave the charge in Osogbo at the end of the 3-day productivity enhancement workshop which was targeted at sustainable agricultural development in post CIVID-19 era in Osun State.

While tasking the 160 participants to work on the fresh knowledge acquired to galvanize their productivity, he counseled them not to relent in knowledge acquisition, positing that it is a sure means of steady and sustainable progress in all endeavours.

The LGSC boss also harped on the need for them to write official reports on the training, hinting, “this is the only way to access your level of comprehension and readiness to put the knowledge acquired to work.”

Elder Adedeji who was profuse in his appreciation to the state helmsman for his magnanimous approval of fund for the workshop, also took time to trumpet the various achievements of the state government, appealing to the entire workforce to reciprocate the kind gestures of Governor Gboyegs Oyetola by supporting his second term bid, advising that, “it will not be wise to change a performing winning team like that of Governor Oyetola.”

In a communique issued at the close of the workshop, the participants recommended a mandatory sizable percentage of local government budget for agricultural projects in each council area, requesting that such funds should be released on time.

They further recommended that that each department of agriculture should have a model demonstration farm enterprise in their areas of comparative advantage.

Earlier in his overview of the workshop, the consultant, Mr. Sola Ashiru, who emphasised the need to step up agricultural production in all local governments within the state, pointed out that, if we will developed, agricultural production can be a formidable and sustainable source of income for the state.

Sola Ashiru also harped on the need for the state government to drive the political will of local government executives to take agricultural enterprise more seriously.

In an interview with newsmen, the Forum Head of Agriculture Departments in Osun Local Government Service, Engr. Olaleye Fakayode, who was full of appreciation for the robustness of the workshop, testified that they were exposed to new insights that would not only enhance their productivity in service, but will also better individual lot after retirement.

Engr. Fakayode then advised his colleagues to put the knowledge garnered into practice so that government expenses on the training would be justified.

Highlight of the workshop, which was handled by eminently successful practicing farmers, was the isolation of two options of proposed agricultural projects by each local government, which they promised to pursue with all tenacity.
