The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has announced significant achievements in its ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2, aimed at combating terrorism within the Lake Chad Basin.
According to Chief Military Public Information Officer HQ MNJTF Ndjamena, Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abullahi, recent aerial operations had successfully destroyed terrorists’ camps located on islets within the Cameroonian and Nigerian territories of Lake Chad, resulting in numerous terrorist casualties and forcing many to flee into Chad.
The operation also led to the destruction of eight vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) in Arinna Ciki and two ammunition bunkers northeast of Malam Fatori.
In a swift and decisive action, Sector 2, with support from the Chadian Rapid Intervention Force, dealt a heavy blow to the retreating terrorists.
This response neutralized 70 terrorists and dismantled five camps, underscoring the effectiveness of MNJTF’s strategies and the strong collaboration with the Chadian Armed Forces.
The MNJTF expressed its gratitude to the Chadian Armed Forces for their invaluable cooperation and support in the fight against terrorism.
The contributions from other troop-contributing countries, including Operation Emergence 4 from Cameroon, Operation Hadin Kai from Nigeria, and Sector 4 from Niger, were also pivotal in the success of Operation Lake Sanity 2.
The MNJTF remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate terrorism and restore peace to the Lake Chad Basin. The task force will continue to work tirelessly with its partners to achieve and maintain this critical goal.
