The governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has received a deluge of commendations from Nigerians on social media for his humble gesture of prostrating to greet Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, a renowned lawyer, at a public event.

The governor’s act of prostrating to greet Afe Babalola, is a traditional way of showing respect to elders in Yoruba culture.

Governor Oyebanji arrived at the event in Ekiti and encountered Chief Babalola, who is over 90 years old.

The governor was in prostrate “surrender,” right on the ground, to greet the legal icon.

Nigerians on social media have commended him as an Omoluabi (a through-bred Yoruba man who is properly brought up or raised.)
