Ojora Royal Family confirms Dapo’s death as Police begin investigation

The Ojora Royal Family of Lagos has confirmed the death of Omo-Oba Adedapo Adelanke Abdulfatah Ojora.

The family, in a statement released by Toyin Saraki, the late Adedapo’s younger sister on Saturday, noted that he died on Friday, 11th December, at his Ikoyi, Lagos residence.

Street Journal that broke the news said it was a case of suicide but the family said that Lagos State Police Command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances of his death.

The family also urged friends and the general public to allow it to grieve in private.

The statement said: “The Ojora Royal Family of Lagos sadly regrets to inform of the death of our dearly beloved son, brother, uncle, and father, Omo-Oba Adedapo Adelanke Abdulfatah Ojora on Friday 11th December, at his Ikoyi, Lagos residence.

“We are grateful to the Lagos State Police Command for immediately commencing an investigation into the circumstances of his death – the outcome of which we await.

“As we mourn our irreparable and devastating loss, we appreciate the condolence messages and prayers that we have received and seek your understanding that the family be allowed to grieve in private. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

“We ask that you continue to pray for the repose of our dearly loved Adedapo’s soul. Amen.”

His death occurred a few years after he survived a ghastly auto-bike crash.

Dapo was the second son of Otunba Adekunle Ojora to die within 10 years. His elder brother, Adegboyega, a.k.a Gbegi died on 10 April 2011.

Meantime, the Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Adedapo.

He was a socialite and Polo Buff during his life and times.

The Lagos State Police Command called on the general public to disregard speculations doing the round on the cause of his death until the investigation instituted by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, to unravel the cause of his death was concluded.

The police said they would make the findings of their investigation public.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, commiserated with the family, friends and business partners of the deceased and assured them that police experts in the Homicide Section of the command’s State CID would be thorough in their investigation.
