The people of Odeke Community in Ibaji Local Government of Kogi State have called on Governor Usman Ododo to rescue them from the barbaric activities of a self-acclaimed “Man of God” who has been terrorizing and extorting them.

A group of people from the community, apparently afraid of disclosing their identities, who reached out to THE CONCLAVE, said that their people in a small Odeke community were living under real fear of harassment and threat to life..

They alleged that the self- acclaimed “Man of God” had been terrorizing, dehumanizing and subjecting people of the village and its environs, claiming to be carrying out spiritual cleansing.

They also alleged that he had collecting huge sums of money running into millions of naira from the village people after instilling fear in them and after the extortion spree, he would cool off in a secluded apartment.

The people also claimed that the self-acclaimed “Man of God” who goes by that nomenclature (name) tied up supposed victims in a hostel-like camp, where people whom he accused of being responsible for family problems and other related matters are kept.

According to them, “This nefarious activity of this ‘Man of God’ has been on since January 2025. Innocent people have been held up in his camp, tied up, some with serious medical challenges.

“The community is terrorized and helpless. We a’re being coerced into accepting the services of this “Man of God” otherwise, we live in fear of threatened consequences.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi state, should, please, come to aid of our community and people. We have been living in palpable fears and apprehension.

“The earlier this ugly and dastardly act is arrested, the better, because, this kind of situation can lead to yet another security breakdown.

“We know that the Governor is doing his best to ensure that every part of the state is peaceful and safe for citizens and other dwellers, but some handfuls should not be seen to frustrate that laudable effort in the name of religion or some spiritual exercise or cleansing.”
