Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, has been praised for her worker-friendly approach and efforts in enhancing the work environment for civil servants in the state.
The commendation came from members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Information Chapel, during a one-day capacity-building workshop and congress held at the conference hall of the State Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy in Yenagoa.
Former state council chairman, Comrade Tarinyo Akono, and Chairman of the NUJ Information Chapel, Pastor Wanama Dandyson, in their separate remarks, praised Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai for revitalizing the work environment through the renovation of the Information House and providing new office furniture.
The members also expressed appreciation for the leadership of the State Council, led by Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, for their consistent financial and moral support to the Chapel’s activities.
The workshop, themed “Role of an Information Officer:Responsibilities and Best Practices,” focused on equipping participants with skills in “Effective News Writing and Reporting,” “Content Creation and Modern-Day Journalism,” and “Tips on Anchoring a Program.”
Pastor Wanama Dandyson, the Chapel Chairman, emphasized that the workshop was designed to enhance the capabilities of Information Officers in the Ministry to perform their roles more effectively.
He noted that journalism is a dynamic profession that demands continuous skill updates for practitioners.
Facilitators included Ade Bakare, Director of the Strategy Department, Dr. Sophia Obi, Director of Public Enlightenment, and Mr. Chris Odi, a retired Director in the Ministry.
