In a coordinated effort to disrupt terrorist activities and cut off supply chains, troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, have captured 15 suspected terrorist gun runners and logistics suppliers, neutralizing one in the process.
The operation, based on credible intelligence, spanned multiple locations across Nigeria and resulted in the recovery of various arms, ammunition, and logistical equipment.
On August 30, 2024, troops conducted raids in Mararaba Donga and Manya village, located in Donga and Takum Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
The precision operation led to the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of several weapons, including 3 AK-47 rifles, 2 fabricated rifles, 2 single-barrel guns, and 2 dane guns.
Additional items recovered included 61 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 8 live cartridges, AK-47 magazines, a pistol holster, a pair of handcuffs, and various other tools and personal effects.
In Yobe State, three Boko Haram logistic suppliers were arrested in Jimbal Village of Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been operating for over two years, aided by local vigilantes to evade detection.
Confiscated items included vehicles, motorcycles, spare parts, drugs, rolls of fabric for sewing uniforms, and N48,000 in cash.
In Kaduna State, four suspects were detained at Rijana village in Chikun Local Government Area. Recovered from the suspects were 30 rounds of ammunition, mobile phones, recharge cards valued at N100,000, and cash totaling N1,532,900.
Additionally, troops in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State neutralized a notorious kidnapper linked to a syndicate targeting commuters around Ubia community.
Weapons recovered included one AK-47 rifle and one semi-automatic pump-action gun.
Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops apprehended three wanted kidnapping suspects in Kabong community, Jos South Local Government Area, and seized a fabricated pistol and live cartridges.
The Chief of Army Staff praised the troops for their dedication and urged them to maintain the momentum of these offensives to ensure national safety and stability.
He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and related crimes to achieve lasting peace across the country.
