The National Assembly Service Commission [NASC] has commenced a series of redeployments of permanent secretaries in National Assembly Directorates.
The implementation of the movements of permanent secretaries from one directorate to another confirms a media report about the plan to rejig the administrative architecture to cure some egregious mischief and bolster administrative efficiency.
THE CONCLAVE reports that Dr. Saidu Alkali has been redeployed in the Medical Services Directorate from the Human Resource Directorate.
Similarly, Mr. Essien Essien, who was before now secretary of Regional Liaison Offices, is to now head the Human Resources directorate.
According to a source privy to the development, more of such redeployments would happen in the coming days.
The redeployments are to cure the anomalies created by the immediate past administration of Engr Ahmed Amshi as Executive Chairman of the Commission.
A media report had recently spoken about the plan by the NASC to redeploy some key management staff members of the National Assembly bureaucracy.
Prominent among those listed in the media report who might likely be affected were Deputy Clerk, Legislative, Senate, Rawlings Agada, Secretary of Regional liasion, Mr Essien Essien, and Human Resources, Dr. Alkali.
As of the time of this report on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Dr Alkali and Mr Essien had both been redeployed.
Agada, who was listed in the media report, has yet to be redeployed.
Recall that the last commission under the chairmanship of Engr Ahmad Amshi, in a controversial fashion, appointed and gave effect to the redeployment of some management staff members of the National Assembly.
The move saw a medical doctor head the Human Resource Directorate when there was a Directorate of Medical Services, which is his natural forte.
