Man, 40, docked for alleged N2.3m theft
Court sets June 19 for Senator Natasha’s arraignment

A 40-year-old man, Julius Amos, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing N2.3 million.

Amos, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in May at OkeAdo, Ibadan.

Tellang said that the defendant collected the N2.3million from the complainant, Mrs Olutoyin Amusa, to buy some goods for her, which he failed to deliver.

He said that the defendant converted the money to his personal use.

Tellang said all efforts made by the complainant to retrieve her money proved abortive.

He said the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until June 26 for mention.
