Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has reiterated his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while expressing readiness to support any political arrangement—within or beyond the party—geared towards securing Nigeria’s future in 2027.
Speaking with journalists in Kano, Lamido emphasized his deep-rooted commitment to the PDP, despite the party’s internal challenges.
“I am PDP by flesh, soul, and bone. I can’t walk out of my skin into another and be conferred with a smaller identity like ADC. I cannot,” he declared.
However, he stressed that saving Nigeria transcends party lines, adding that he is open to supporting any candidate or coalition that prioritizes national unity and progress.
“We need a united country where there’s trust, mutual respect, and love. For the sake of democracy, stability, and prosperity, we must come together,” Lamido stated.
He recounted the personal sacrifices he has made for the PDP—including arrests, detention, harassment, and threats to his family—yet maintained his loyalty, citing the party’s principles and its role in shaping his political career.
“PDP made me a minister and a governor.
“The party stands for Nigeria, not individuals. It remains transparent and committed to doing what is right,” he noted.
On the issue of state creation, Lamido said it was secondary to more urgent national issues such as insecurity, poverty, hunger, and unity.
“Once these are resolved, I have no objection to creating new states,” he concluded.
