Kaduna State Government, on Thursday, said the 27 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, who were recently released by the bandits are still undergoing rehabilitation.

The State Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said the clarifications became necessary following enquiries as to when the students would rejoin their families.

Aruwan said the students were currently undergoing debriefing, medical checks, psychological evaluation and basic rehabilitation and as such they would not be released to their families.

He said efforts were on to ensure that all 27 students were in a satisfactory physical and mental state before they were handed over to their families.

Aruwan appealed to families, friends and the general public to understand the plight of the students especially considering their difficult experience over the last seven weeks.

He said if the first phase of checks was as successful as anticipated, the students would rejoin their families on Friday 7th May 2021, and the media would be notified ahead of this.
