Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has declared Friday, the 20th of August, 2021, as a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s “Isese Day” festival.
A release issued and signed by the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Tajudeen Olaniyi Lawal on behalf of the state government said this years Isese Day will, however, not be marked with the usual funfair.
Alhaji Lawal said the decision to that effect is anchored on the realisation of the increasing rate of the third wave of COVID-19 in the country.
The commissioner on behalf of the state governor congratulated the traditional religion worshippers throughout the state just as he also appealed to them to be peaceful and law abiding in their conducts before, during and after the festival.
He equally enjoined them to pray for the growth and development of state.
While further enjoining them to continue to support the present administration, Lawal emphasised the need for the citizens of the state to continue to embrace Omoluabi ethos.
He urged the participants to observe the COVID-19 protocols, especially the use of nose mask, social/physical distancing, among other rules of engagement before, during and after the festival.
