The Nigeria Correctional Service, (NCoS) and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have strengthened partnership to enhance inmates’ welfare and improve service delivery.

The agreement was made when Mr Christopher Jen, the new Controller of Corrections, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command, paid a courtesy visit to Bas Pepple, the Controller of Immigration Service (CIS) in Abuja.

A statement by the NCoS Command Public Relations Officer, Samson Duza on Saturday in Abuja, said that the meeting provided an opportunity for both services to deepen collaboration and explore new areas of partnership.

Speaking, Jen added that the visit was to underscore the readiness of both agencies to work together for the safety, security, and welfare of residents in the FCT.

He said that there was need to come up with measures to strengthen security within the joint office complex that is housing both services and other agencies.

This, he said, should include potential collaborative initiatives to promote cooperation and unity.
Jen expressed his appreciation to Pepple for what he described as impactful initiatives undertaken by the Immigration Service in support of inmates in the FCT.

“Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we believe that our continued partnership will enhance inmate welfare and improve service efficiency.

“We also look forward to working closely with you to achieve our shared goals,”Jen said.

In her response, Pepple assured the Controller of the Immigration Service’s unwavering commitment to boosting cooperation among security agencies in the FCT.

She stressed that both agencies share the goal of ensuring a secure and rehabilitative environment for individuals under their jurisdictions, noting that stronger collaboration would enhance service delivery.
