Group hails appointment of Aiyejina as Edo North APC caucus’ secretary

A socio-cultural group in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, The Okpameri Awake, has hailed the appointment of Dr Tony Aiyejina as the Caucus’ Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo North Senatorial District

The group, in a statement that was made available to newsmen in Igarra, described Aiyejina’s appointment as “a square peg in a square hole”.

Other APC stalwarts from Àkoko Edo who made the Edo North APC Senatorial Caucus List are: State Vice Chairman of APC, Edo North, Hon Anslem Agbabi, former Edo North Senator from Àkoko Edo, Deacon Domingo Obende, former member of Bendel State House of Assembly, Hon M.O. Oloyo, Deputy Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon Peter Ohio Akpatason, and the factional chairman of APC from Àkoko Edo, Prince Folaremi Ojo Maliki among others.

A report by platformnews.com quoted the spokesperson of the Okpameri Nation, Comrade Victor Arogunyo, to have described the appointment of Dr Tony Aiyejina as Edo North APC Caucus Secretary as a good development.

“This move by the APC in Edo North under the dominant leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a deliberate attempt to demarginalize and integrate Àkoko Edo into Afemai political nucleus family” he said .

While congratulating the other Akoko Edo political heavyweights that made the list, the OSELO of Okpameri Kingdom, Arogunyo urged Aiyejina to bring his many years of political and managerial experience to bear in repositioning APC for victory in 2023.

The spokesperson urged the Edo North APC Caucus to consider the legitimate demand of Akoko Edo North Constituency to produce the next House of Representatives since the chairmanship of the Council had been zoned to the South Constituency just as the current occupier of the position would have spent uninterrupted consecutive twelve(12) years by June 2023.

In a similar vein, the group congratulated the former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on reaching the milestone of seventy years.

The statement read in part: “Happy 70th birthday! We know the road has been long, with many unexpected twists and turns, but we hope that the rest of your journey is a walk in the park on a beautiful, sunny day.”

The statement further added: “Hoping your 70th birthday, like your life and times, is full of love from family and friends, unbridled joy, unforgettable moments and, ultimately, happy memories”
