General Elections: Early turnout of voters in Osogbo

As Nigerians elect a new president as well those that will represent them at the National Assembly, electorate in Osogbo, the State capital, were seen very early at their various polling units ready to perform their civic duties.

As early as 7:30 a.m., officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were already seen on ground making arrangements for voting to commence.

Electorate were already trooping out in their numbers with their Permanent Voter Cards to thumb print for the candidates of their choice in the elections as early as 7am.

From Salvation Army Primary School, Ataoja ward ‘E’ in Alekuwodo to Ward 5 Isopako Units 10, 11, and 12 at Orita Awosuru also in Alekuwodo, electorate were out to cast their votes.

Security operatives were also not in short supply at the various polling units visited in the early hours of the election day in Osogbo, as they were seen on ground fully prepared to ensure sanity at the polling units.

Some of the electorate who spoke with the Ministry of Information news crew expressed satisfaction at the level of preparedness of INEC, the election umpire.

They expressed the hope that at the end of the electoral process, leaders who would steer the ship of the country would have been elected.
