The Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has extended warm festive greetings to Nigerian Army personnel and their families as they celebrate Christmas and prepare to welcome the New Year 2025.
According to Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the CoAS in his message, praised the dedication and sacrifices of troops deployed in various operational and peacekeeping missions, particularly those unable to celebrate with their loved ones due to duty demands.
He acknowledged their contributions to safeguarding lives and property, which are highly valued by both Nigerians and international allies.
General Oluyede urged troops to remain disciplined, focused, and loyal to the Constitution, emphasizing the importance of patriotism, professionalism, and adherence to civil authority.
He also reiterated the Army’s apolitical stance.
Paying tribute to fallen heroes, including the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Oluyede prayed for the repose of their souls and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of their families and injured colleagues.
He assured personnel that their well-being, combat readiness, and professional growth remained top priorities under his leadership.
The COAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his continued support and guidance.
He reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national interests.
General Oluyede wished all personnel a joyous Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.
