A former Group Politics Editor of the old DailyTimes, Emeka Nwosu, PhD, has mourned a former deputy governor of Kogi State, Chief Patrick Adaba, who died Monday, aged 79.

Nwosu, a former Special Adviser Media to the late former Senate President, Evans Enwerem, said he was saddened ro read about the death of Chief Adaba

According to Nwosu, “I feel sad to read this. I thought it was a mix-up because what had been in the public domain was the demise of Dr. Tom Adaba, his elder brother.

“I had to pay closer attention to realise that it was truly HE Chief Patrick Adaba that was being eulogized.

“I was closely associated with him and his elder brother during my heyday as Political Editor with the Daily Times.

“I visited him a couple of times in Lokoja and Abuja when he served in the cabinet of Prince Audu Abubakakar as Deputy Governor.

“He was an ebullient personality who related freely with people.

“He was approachable and accessible. He was a good storyteller. He told me how sycophants of Igala extraction tried to strain his relationship with his boss by making unfounded allegations against his person and how the then Governor confronted the tale bearers in his presence without them substantiating the allegations.

“According to him, that singular act by Audu put a stop to the activities of slanderers and purveyors of untruths within and around Government House, Lokoja.

“Personally, I have lost a great friend. Kogi has lost a charitable leader. Nigeria has lost a bridge builder.

“May his gentle soul rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord. Amen.”
