The Guinness World Records has said it did not receive any application from Ekiti State-based chef, Damilola Adeparusi, before she set out to start her cooking in the bid to break the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The GWR said this in response to an enquiry by Legit on Tuesday on the 120 hours spent by Adeparusi cooking.
It had on Tuesday confirmed Hilda Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, as the new world record holder in the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Baci was credited with 93 hours and 11 minutes to displace India’s Late Tondon.
The GWR told Legit on Adeparusi, a student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, who cooked for 120 hours: “We have not received an application for this attempt.
“Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.
“Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines specific to that record category that must be adhered to.
“This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record. Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title.
“There is no waiting time to attempt to break an existing record.”
