The Nash Gwagwalada Izon Gwarinpa road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, remains abandoned by the contractor, despite millions of naira disbursed for its repairs.

According to Monitng, a civic technology platform platform that provides citizens with information to track the progress of public projects, and access public data, the contractor only visited the site briefly, erected a signpost, worked on a failed section for a day, and then left.

“The contractor only came to the site, erected the project signpost, worked on a failed section for a day and left,” reported Monitng.

The road is crucial for residents of Paikon Kore, Ibwa, Dobi, and over ten other communities, serving as a vital link.

Its abandonment has significantly impacted these areas, leaving residents without a reliable route.

“This road is of great importance to residents of the communities in that area,” emphasised Monitng.

The incomplete work has caused frustration and concern among those who depend on the road daily.

Residents are now calling for urgent government intervention to ensure the funds are properly utilized and the project is completed.

The situation highlights the pressing need for accountability and effective oversight in public infrastructure projects.
