Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) has rounded off his one-year tenure as chairman, Body of Benchers, BoB, surviving as it were the agitation to have him resign from office at some point, for his perceived public indictment for his alleged unprofessional conduct made against his law firm.
The NBA chairman, YC Maikyau has been in the forefront of the agitation to have Olanipekun and his law firms “sanctioned” for solicitation of brief.
Makyau had called on Olanipekun to step down as Chair of BoB. On account of the perceived indictment tied to “Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia SAN over an email from Ms. Adekunbi Ogunde, a Partner in Wole Olanipekun & Co, allegedly soliciting to take over a brief his law firm was handling from his client, SAIPEM SPA.”
Olanipekun held on to his position until he served out his term. He will bow out on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
A send forth party would be held in his honour in Abuja, according to a copy of an invite sighted by THE CONCLAVE.
The venue is Halimatu Abdullahi Turaki Banquet Hall, Body of Benchers Complex, Plot 688, Institution and Research District, FCC Phase III, Abuja. Time of event is 6:00pm.
Report said that the Retired Supreme Court Justice, Justice Mary Ego Odili, who is the current Body’s Vice Chairman, will succeed Olanipekun.
Recall that long into Olanipekun’s emergence as BoB Chair, the Body and the NBA had been involved in a cold war following calls by some leaders within the Association for Olanipekun to step down as Chairman following the “publicly perceived indictment” on his person as indicated in one of the paragraphs supra.
