Channels TV presenters leave NBC meeting

Channels reporters Chamberlain Usoh, Maupe Ogun, Kayode Okikiolu and their producer Yomi Otaigbe have reportedly left the office of the National Broadcasting Commission after a long-drawn meeting of minds on some controversial interviews they featured on their Sunrise Dailly programme.

The team had been invited to the NBC office for questioning following an interview with Retired Commodore Olawunmi.

There was also another controversial interview with Governor Samuel Ortom.9f Benue for which NBC is making moves to sanction Channels TV.

The Commission said that the station had run foul of the broadcasting codes and committed infractions that carry sanctions.

The National Broadcasting Commission had asked Channels Television to explain why appropriate sanctions should not be applied for infractions of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.

In a letter by the Director General, Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, the commission gave the television station 24 hours to respond to the alleged infractions during its programme which had as guest the Executive Governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom.

The NBC said the programme contained inciting, divisive and unfair comments which were not thoroughly interrogated by the anchors.
