In a decisive move to enforce regulatory compliance within the humanitarian sector, the Borno State Government has taken the measure of sealing the office premises of iMMAP France in Borno field office, effective immediately

The was disclosed in a public notice by the Directorate of Information Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security, the Borno State Government expresses gratitude for the invaluable humanitarian contributions of registered and rule-compliant non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in the state.

However, the government has adopted a zero-tolerance stance towards entities operating outside the bounds of legal frameworks.

“Following an exhaustive investigation, it has been confirmed that iMMAP France has been conducting operations within the state without requisite registration and authorization from relevant authorities. In light of this, the Borno State Government, in adherence to the stipulations of the Borno State Agency for the Coordination of Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Response under section 9 (6)(7)(a)(b), which mandates proper registration for NGOs, has sealed the premises of iMMAP France.

“The specific provision asserts, “No Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) may operate within the state without being duly registered, and certificates issued may be cancelled or suspended upon satisfactory confirmation.”

All associates and personnel affiliated with iMMAP France are hereby notified that access to the sealed premises is strictly prohibited. Any attempt to tamper with or circumvent this action will be met with appropriate legal consequences.

The Borno State Government urges security agencies and concerned individuals to remain vigilant to prevent any unauthorized activities by iMMAP France or its representatives within the state,” the public notice read.

The Borno State Government advises all civil society organizations operating in the state to adhere rigorously to the legal framework and governance protocols governing the non-governmental and humanitarian services sector.

The government reaffirms its commitment to maintaining vigilance over NGOs and INGOs to safeguard public interest and uphold due processes.
