The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has approved a new salary structure for its elected officials in the state.
According to the new structure, Local Government Chairmen in the state will now earn a monthly salary of N621,000.
The LGA Vice Chairmen and Secretaries as well as Ward Chairmen will earn N336,000 monthly, while Ward Vice Chairmen and Secretaries will take home N196,000 monthly.
Party officials at the senatorial district level will earn N621,000, while members of the State Working Committee will earn N1,048,500 monthly.
The cumulative monthly wage bill for the party’s elected officials is expected to be N306,496,000.
The decision was made known by the party’s Caretaker Committee, led by Barr. George Turnah, in a communique signed by its spokesperson, Derri Alasuote Wright, after a meeting.
The committee expressed confidence in the leadership of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the South-South Zonal Executive Council led by Chief Dan Orbih, for their efforts in repositioning the party.
The CTC stated that “the new salary structure takes immediate effect”, and that it had directed the Party Secretary to communicate the decision to the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for his attention and necessary action.
