Balogun commends Governor Adeleke on promoting environment, sanitation and hygiene

The Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Environment and Sanitation, Hon Babatunde Adeniyi Balogun, has commended Governor Adeleke for his efforts in transforming the state through good environment and hygiene.

Hon Balogun also paid a glowing tribute to stakeholders in the environmental sanitation sector for their resilience in restoring the state back to its status as one of the neatest in the nation.

The Special Adviser made this commendation while having an official meeting with members of the Private Sectors Partners, PPS in Waste Management at his office in Abere on Thursday.

Hon Balogun who called for adequate collaboration with Governor Adeleke on environmental sanitation, said the state appreciated the efforts of the stakeholders in mobilizing against filthy environment and the ways they have demonstrated their support to the government in mobilizing against the menace of poor sanitation.

According to the Special Adviser, “am happy to receive you in my office today and am happy to tell you all that you should be up and doing to your responsibility in your area of coverage towards clean environment. Make sure you cover your area of coverage adequately as the only way to support the government.

“We also appreciate the input of the market women, traditional rulers, the media and those officially saddled with the duty of enforcing clean environment in the state. We wish the trend continues in good stead”.

Hon Balogun, emphasized that the Governor Adeleke’s led administration in Osun has zero tolerance for filthy environment hence the need for residents to support this policy by imbibing a good waste disposal culture.

“Hygiene is very important to us, failure to uphold some level of hygiene would lead to serious health hazards to us as individuals and persons living around us” he added.

Hon Balogun added further that, residents of the state would be involved in curbing the environmental menace while also charging residents in the state to make use of refuse collection drums for disposal of their waste.

While speaking at the meeting, the Private Waste Manager, Dr Femi Ogunbamiwo, assured Mr Governor through the Special Adviser on Environment and Sanitation that the entire PSP will not relent in working in tandem with the aim of government in having good environment in the state.

At the meeting with the SA was the General Manager, Osun Waste Management Agency, OWMA, Sanitarian Fatai Oladosu Oyewole and other management staff of the Ministry.
