The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, has expelled 58 students for their alleged involvement in cullt activities.

Their cult activities and consequent expulsion took place between 2022 and 2025..

The institution said the punitive measure had enabled the authorities to cut down the magnitude of cult-related activities in the polytechnic.

Rector of the institution, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, who disclosed this on Tuesday, said the management would double down on actions against cultism.

According to him, “When I assumed office as Rector, I called the students to renounce membership of secret cults so that they could be forgiven.

“I told them that whoever that is caught would face the consequences, hence lots of them renounced their membership of cult groups.

“The staff members of the institution, including myself and management staff members, swore an affidavit of not belonging to a cult group.

“This can be attested to if you check the numbers of students expelled between 2022 and date.

“So far, we have expelled over 58 students with cult related-issues between 2022 till and date, and we are still doing it and not relenting.

“Cultism is a problem, especially in this part of the country, and no one can claim ignorance of the menace.”
