A former Vice President Atiku Abubakar visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, on Monday.
He was in company with a former governor of Cross River State, Mr Liyel Imoke, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal and Senator Abdul Ningi.
They launched into a meeting behind closed doors.
Although, no official statement has yet been issued, watchers of the political developments believed their meeting was in connection with the state of the nation the fast approaching 2027 presidential politics.
The meeting signalled one in the series of strategic meetings presaging the crucial 2027 general elections.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is believed to be nursing interest in running g for the presidency again.
There were, however, feelers that he might be willing to collaborate actively in forging a grand opposition movement to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
In essence, he may not necessarily be a direct beneficiary of the opposition agenda, the type that swept then sitting President, Goodluck JonathN from office in 2015.
Atiku, who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arrived at the sprawling Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta around 12:36 p.m and quickly went to the Penthouse arm of the facility to meet his host, Obasanjo, who was waiting for him for the closed-door meeting.
On arrival, Atiku alongside members of his entourage, was received at the Obasanjo’s residence by elder statesman, Oyewole Fasawe, before they all went straight into a private meeting with Obasanjo.
