The chicken has finally come home to roost for the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu as he has come to the terminus of his leadership of the party.
The National Working Committee, NWC of the party formally announced Adamu’s resignation on Monday at its meeting.
Adamu did not fall solely. The National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore also went down with him.
The acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari, confirmed Adamu’s and Omisore’s resignations.
Kyari said he had taken over as acting chairman while Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter, had taken over as acting National Secretary.
The meeting also announced the postponement of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings slated for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Seventeen members of the committee were in attendance with only National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka and the National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu absent after due permission.
Senator Adamu didn’t not attend the meeting. Omisore who was present was locked out.
The stage is set for the emergence of a new national chairman and national secretary in substantive capacities at a mud term convention soonest.
Their election would take into account the zoning arrangement-North Central for national chair and southwest for national Secretary, except otherwise decided
