In a statement issued on Tuesday by the General Secretary, Venerable Gershinen Paul Dajur, the church confirmed it has set up an independent panel to probe the claims, which have drawn wide public attention on social and mainstream media.

“As a church committed to the teachings of Christ, and to integrity and accountability, we take these matters with the utmost seriousness,” the statement read.

Though the details of the allegations were not disclosed, the church said the panel will be chaired by a retired judge to guarantee impartiality and transparency in the process.

“The church has immediately constituted an independent, high-level investigation panel to examine the allegations and establish the truth, whilst ensuring complete fairness throughout the process,” the statement added.

Acknowledging the sensitivity of the matter, the church urged members of the Anglican Communion and the wider Christian community to avoid speculation until the investigation is concluded.

“We respectfully urge our members, stakeholders in the Body of Christ, and the general public to refrain from speculation while this process is ongoing,” it stated.
