The immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, has mourned a former Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Edo State, Hajia Mariam Abubakar, who died on Thursday in Abuja.

Hajia Mariam reportedly died from an undisclosed illness and was buried on Thursday in Abuja in accordance with Islamic rites.

In a letter of commiseration to the Head of the Abubakar family in Abuja dated September 7, 2023, Agba said the death of Mariam came to him as a rude shock.

According to him: “I write to convey to your family my profound condolences on the passing of your daughter, sister, and mother, Hajia Mariam Abubakar, on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

“Hajia Mariam’s death came to me as a rude shock.

“She exited when her services were most needed by Edo State, where she once served as Commissioner for Budget and Planning; and Nigeria, where she worked in one of the committees while I was Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, superintending over the National Development Plan (2021-2025).

“She was incredibly passionate about the growth and development of our State.

“She contributed her quota during her eventful life and times, and left her marks for which posterity will remember her.

“At the interpersonal level, Hajia Mariam showed affections to all that crossed her path.
My dear sister, Hajia Mariam, would be sorely missed.

“I pray that the Almighty God will grant you and the entire family members the fortitude to bear this great loss.

“May the Almighty God grant her soul eternal repose.”
