The campaign of Barrister Asue Ighodalo received a major boost on Thursday in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government when the 55 Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] ward executives of the 11 wards that make up the LGA came together at Chief Tony Anenih’s residence to endorse his aspiration.
At the meeting to celebrate the Christmas holidays called by Ose Anenih, son of the late Chief Tony Anenih, Barr. Asue Ighodalo took the opportunity to reel out his plans for the senatorial district and the state.
He explained that his commitment to serve was driven by his love for the people and a desire to give them a better life.
He pledged that he would be a loyal servant of the people and that he would prioritize fixing the bad roads in the zone; creating jobs; fighting insecurity; and providing access to water, education, and electricity.
The Convener of the meeting, Ose Anenih, in his welcome address, told the gathering that Barr. Asue was the most competent and compassionate politician he had ever met; and pleaded with the ward executives to align strategically so the Party would win the governorship election in September 2024.
He said: “If we are united; and if we back the best candidate who is Asue Ighodalo; we will win the next governorship elections.”
Mr. Barry Ebhodaghe, the ward 10 chairman and chairman of chairmen, in his response to Barr. Ighodalo’s presentation said it was clear to all present that not only was Barr. Ighodalo a true son of the soil, he was also the most competent and sellable candidate.
“We are touched by your intelligence and your humility. On behalf of Esan North East LGA and all the ward executives present, I therefore announce to you our decision to support your ambition to be the next PDP governor of Edo State!”
Also present at the endorsement meeting were party chieftain Andy Esene; former LGA Chairman and Commissioner Peter Aguele; PDP house of assembly candidate, Arc. Targius Irabor; party chieftain, Hon Emmanuel Ogbejele Idogie, Barr. Anthony Ehilebo and PDP LGA Woman leader, Mrs. Tessy Osoyibo.
