I have listened to and read Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu and I’m afraid none of them appears to know what exactly the problem with Nigeria is!
Regrettably, they all serenade us with security and economy rhetoric as though they can fix both by putting something on nothing. Nigeria has to become a purposive enterprise voluntarily subscribed to across religions and ethnicities before insecurity and our ailing economy can be vanquished.
I will continue to argue until I’m presented with a superior argument that the problem with Nigeria has little to do with failure of governance – whether on the part of leaders or on the part of followers – but much to do with the fact that ours has, since October 1st 1960, remained a country of nations often mistaken to be a nation properly so-called.
The earlier we begin to consciously work towards procuring a soul for Nigeria, disregarding oil and gas deposit in the belly of Niger Delta, the better for us all; for “except two be agreed, they cannot work together”. This 62 year-old falsehood must cease!
