The Federal Government said it would consider all options regarding Senate’s refusal to consider President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for the amendment of 2022 Electoral Act.
President Buhari had two weeks ago sent the Act back to the Senate to amend Section 84 (12) after his assent.
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Malami Abubakar Malami (SAN)said the government had three options — asking for a reconsideration, approaching the court or accepting the law as it is.
He spoke while fielding questions from State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.
According to Malami, the government had yet to take a stand on the matter.
